MVP-O3: It’s what sets Designer Beef apart

Minerals, Vitamins, Probiotics, and Omega-3s. A healthy cow means healthier meat for you to eat. What sets Designer Beef apart from other beef ranches is our customized feed of the right vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.

We’ve all heard the saying, “You are what you eat.” In other words, if you want to be fit and healthy, it’s important to eat healthy foods. This saying applies not only to humans, but also to animals, such as cows. That’s why a cow’s diet can’t just be full of fillers, grass, and grain. Cows need the same vitamins and nutrients as humans do to keep their health in tip-top shape.

Many ranchers, in general, don’t spend a lot of time, money, and effort into ensuring their cows have the nutrients they need. Instead, they’re focused more on how the cow can gain weight as fast as possible in the most economical way.

Things are different at the Designer Beef ranch. Most other ranches will set out bins of minerals, but do not have a dedicated nutritionist as we do. With the help of an expert animal nutritionist, we make sure our cows have the diet they need to maintain healthy muscle weight, hearty bones, and a robust immune system. A strong, healthy, happy cow translates to a more nutritious meal for you.

Every day at Designer Beef ranches, we give our cows a “One-A-Day” packed with the vitamins, minerals, Omega-3s, and probiotics that they need. And there are many benefits to this One-A-Day supplement.

Improved immune system

Minerals and supplements, such as copper, zinc, manganese, cobalt, and selenium, are important in the proper functioning of enzyme systems and  immune function. Intaking these minerals will improve the efficiency of converting nutrient absorption by the cattle into tissue growth.

Vitamin E in their diet is also used to reduce the cattles’ likelihood of getting sick and lessens the severity of their illnesses.

Better digestive system

Probiotics are important for a healthy gut and an improved digestive system. Probiotics help  cattle digest food and stay healthy. When a cow’s digestive system is working optimally and absorbing its food without any issues, cows can gain weight more efficiently in a healthy way.

It keeps cows looking and feeling good

Vitamins are necessary to keep cows looking good from the inside out, from their feet to their coat. Vitamins A, D, and E help with the development of healthy structural tissues such as bone and tendons.

Vitamin E also naturally helps the cattle’s meat be red and fresh at the time of harvest. It’s common practice for most grocery stores to dye their meat to make it look red so it’s appealing, but adding Vitamin E in their diet from the start produces meat that has a naturally deep red color.

Bigger health benefits for you

Designer Beef cows are also given omega-3 supplements in the form of flaxseed, cottonseed, and algae oil. By feeding cows omega-3 supplements, we are ensuring that the end product has double the amount of omega-3 for you to consume. That makes our meat’s health benefit on par with salmon and avocados!

Omega-3s are nutrients that help build and maintain a healthy body. Your body doesn’t make this nutrient, so it’s important that you include it in your diet. Foods rich in Omega-3s can help improve your health in several ways. Eating omega-3s could increase good cholesterol and lower blood pressure, reducing your risk of heart disease and stroke. Not only is Omega-3 consumption important for adults, but it’s also important for visual and neurological development in infants.

Meat from our cows has significantly higher levels of Omega-3s, and that’s thanks to our superior nutritional feed.

Better food for cows, the better it is for you

Many studies have been done on the vitamins and minerals that cows need. Our ranchers at Designer Beef use this knowledge to feed cows the correct amount of nutrients every day in their feed–it’s what sets up apart from other ranches!  After all, you are what you eat, and so you are what your food eats!
